The small island of Murano is legendary for its artisanal glass blowing. Ca&rsquo; di Dio&rsquo;s guests will have the opportunity to see this historic craft for themselves. After exploring the picturesque township, enjoy a tour of the Glass Factory. Here, you will get to see artisans practicing the technique of glass blowing and you&rsquo;ll also discover more about the hotel&rsquo;s historic links with stunning Venetian craftsmanship.

The tour starts at the luxurious Ca&rsquo; di Dio hotel. From here, guests will be taken by water taxi to the vibrant waterways of Murano, known worldwide for its glassblowing heritage. For over 1500 years, Murano has been celebrated for its glass blowing artistry. Beauty and craftsmanship are forged in these furnaces, where glass objects are made and sold all over the world.

Glass blowing is beautiful and fascinating to behold. But it&rsquo;s also a very difficult and potentially dangerous activity. This is why the legendary furnaces were moved to the island of Murano in 1295. The move was intended not only to avoid dangerous fires, but also to protect the secrets of the master glassmakers&rsquo; time-honoured craft.

You&rsquo;ll stroll past gorgeous, pastel-coloured houses and historic craftsmen&rsquo;s furnaces until you reach the world-renowned venetian Glass Factory.

Murano

See a historic craft come alive! When you arrive at the Glass Factory, you&rsquo;ll be welcomed by a guide who will show you the furnace. Here, see the master glassmakers at work, preparing stunning works of art using time-honoured techniques. In these historic glassworks, contemporary artisans gather from all over the world to collaborate with the master glassmaker. See for yourself some of the unique works of blown glass that they have created. You&rsquo;ll get to marvel at stunning vases and glasses, as well as extraordinary pieces like glass mosaics, sculptures of all kinds, and ornate chandeliers.

Tour of the northern lagoon

The Ca&rsquo; di Dio hotel has enjoyed a long and fruitful collaboration with the master glassmakers of the historic Murano Glass Factory. Their glassmaking mastery has created many of the hotel&rsquo;s objets d&rsquo;art. Among them are decorative objects, vases, furnishings and the spectacular chandelier. This elegant masterpiece is composed of three intersecting cascades of light and glass that reflect the curvature of the seats below. Its three sails are composed of 14,000 Murano glass crystals floating at the centre of the double-height lobby.
